A race that will go down as a the most unexpected turn of events is guaranteed to be the Hixpania Hard Enduro race which took place in Spain as round 4 of the Hard Enduro World Championship. The race weekend consisted of track walk on Friday, Qualifications on Saturday and the main race on Sunday.
Francesc Moret had a fantastic race in Hixpania. This was his first time riding out of the cave in P9 and running in P3 for a while with the top guys. A couple small mistakes combined with fatigue resulted in him dropping down to finish in P5 in the Championship class. A solid race and another opportunity to prove that he belongs amongst the top in the world.
James Moore our junior rider once again showed that he is at the top of his game. James is the only junior rider to make 18 checkpoints and finish among the top riders. He finished this race in P1 in the Junior Championship class and 6th in the Championship class.
Matt Green may not have had the best start heading into the main race day, he finished his qualifying in P17 but after heavy rainfall the night before it set the track up for a solid main race day. Matt rode pretty consistently and was able to finish his race in P8th
Diogo Vieira qualified in P18 heading into the Main Hixpania race on Sunday. While this was not a result he was happy about it did place him on the second row which is important. On main race day Diogo had a solid flow and was fighting for top 10, it was unfortunate that he had a fall and “missed the train” but still ended up finishing overall in P13.
Marc Font has made progress in his results after his recent race at Abestone, in Hixpania he finished 11th in the Championship class. Gil Vila making his debut at Hixpania and coming in P21 overall at his second HEWC race.
Another noteworthy rider of ours who raced in the Spanish National class is Miguel Ruiz. He finished in P2 and had some consistent racing over the weekend. The national class is referred to as the Hixpanos with thetop riding finished 7 laps and 15 checkpoints.
While this race may not have ended the way anyone had expected it is important to note that it was still a well organized event for riders and spectators and sets an interesting tone heading to Sea to Sky in October.
