Abestone Glory: James Moore Claims Junior Championship Lead

Abestone Glory: James Moore Claims Junior Championship Lead

Abestone hard enduro took place over the weekend of September 6 -7th in Italy. After three years the Hard Enduro World Championship returned to this iconic race for round 3. This race turned out to be much more challenging than expected and even though riders were able to walk the track and train before the race. Racing took place over two days starting with qualifying and sprint races on Saturday and the main race on Sunday.

Race results

The man of the hour was undoubtably Rigo Racing and Plews supported junior rider James Moore, who had solid results throughout the weekend. From Qualifying on Saturday and making it into the final X-loop in the afternoon finishing the day in 6th. Head to Sunday James finished the 2 hour main race in 4th overall and as the 1st junior pushing him into the top junior championship position.

Another Rigo Racing rider was Matt Green who came in 6th overall, a fantastic result for the teams home race. It was a slippery track and challenging but with fans there to offer all the support it created a fantastic atmosphere.

Diogo Vieira had taken some time away from global races and ended his Abestone race with a solid 11th position after almost a year of not racing competitively.

Davide Paganno made a couple mistakes in the main race which resulted in him just missing a top 10 position but regardless was happy with his results in 12th overall at on him home turf.

British rider, Radford Chugg finished his Saturday sprint race in 14th which was a decent start to the weekend. Unfortunately the main race didn’t go quite to plan with a snapped chain coming out of the river resulting in Radford needing to push the bike over the line. Losing 4 - 5 positions meant that Radford finished his race in 17th overall.

Toby Shaw and Francesc Morett round out our Abestone riders with a P27 and P37 respectively. While the feeling on the bike was great over the weekend it was mechanical issues that resulted in a disappointing finish.
