Adapting on the Fly: Plews Riders Rises to the Challenge at Ebbw Vale and Preston Docks

Another weekend, another set of results to share. From the dusty banks of Ebbw Vale to the Preston Docks circuit, Plews Tyres supported riders were racing across two very different disciplines this weekend. There were podiums, dominant qualifying runs, last-lap drama and one particularly unfortunate twist of fate that saw a deserving rider lose a top-three finish. Here's how it all played out.

British Extreme

Round 4 of the British Extreme took place in Ebbw Vale and our Plews supported riders had some decent results! Riders came prepared for a extreme enduro but were faced with a track more suited to cross country racing which demanded a faster setup.

In the championship class we had Spanish rider Fransesc Moret once again standing on the podium in 2nd position. He shared that the conditions were quite dusty and that he had a couple falls during the race but it happens and you just got to keep pushing. Charlie Frost rounded out the podium with a 3rd position.

Matt Stuttard also had a great race. It took some time to get comfortable racing at the fast speeds on track and he had some great battles with Charlie Frost. What was looking to be a podium finish came to an unfortunate end when he ran out of fuel a couple of minutes from the finish line. He got some assistance from a fellow rider but ended up finishing in P6.

Jason Balmer shared that it wasn’t the best weekend as he had prepped the bike for extreme conditions that weren’t suited to the race track. He came P7 overall.

In the expert class we had Peter Collins taking the top spot in 1st. He used The Tough One on the rear with a soft mousse instead of an extreme soft mousse. He also had an extreme front with a standard mousse. It was great to get some insight that he would not have changed his choice as he believed this was the way to go with the track being so fast. Jed Balmer finished just off the podium in 4th overall.

MXGB Youth

Round 2 of the 2026 MXGB British Youth Motocross Championship took place at Preston Docks over the weekend.

In the 65CC class we had a couple Plews supported riders racing. Freddy Budgen had some great racing over the weekend finishing P8 overall. He showed great speed and is certainly getting used to the new bike. In race one he finished in P8, in race two his result was P6 and for race 3 crossed the line in P16. Cohen Llewellyn finished his weekend P19 overall. Race one he was unable to finish but for race two he got a P7 and in race 3 he finished in P9. LG Burton Finished his weekend in P23 with a P12 in race one and a P16 in race two, he was not able to finish race 3.

In the 86CC big wheel class we had Cohen Jagielski had a decent weekend proving that he had the speed. He came P1 in qualifying as well as times practice but had technical issues from the gate drop of race one and was unable to make it to the finish. He finished in P8 for race two. He had a great start and build up an almost 12 second lead before crashing and injuring his wrist. Race 3 he crossed the line in 1st but was unable to keep the points and so he finished his weekend in P30.

It was a weekend that had everything. Podium glory, dominant pace, and a reminder that motorsport can be brutally unforgiving right up until the final lap. Fransesc Moret continues to show why he's a consistent threat at every British Extreme round, while Peter Collins delivered a masterclass in tyre strategy on a track that punished the wrong choice. and Matt Stuttard will be haunted by those final few minutes for a while, but that's racing! Over at Preston Docks, the youth riders reminded everyone that the next generation of talent is very much alive and well, with Cohen Jagielski's qualifying pace in particular turning heads despite the mechanical heartbreak that followed. With riders at every level pushing hard and learning fast, the next rounds can't come soon enough.
